County accepts bid for Auburn Drive Bridge project

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Board of Supervisors accepted a bid for the Auburn Drive Bridge Project Monday morning. District 4 Supervisor Eddie Brown said the project is three years in the making after getting Emergency Road and Bridge Repair funding to work on the project in 2021.

Hurdles such as a state audit have caused the bridge project to creep along. Lincoln County Engineer Ryan Holmes said they received three bids for the bridge project and his recommendation was to accept the lowest bid of $802,000 made by Joe McGee Construction.

“Joe McGee Construction is in Lake. They are a good company and have been in business a long time,” Holmes said. “We now need to get paperwork together to send to MDOT. Hopefully, it will be on the agenda for the MDOT commission meeting in November. I have to get original documentation from the contractor to send to them. It has to go to the commission. Once they approve it we will have to execute the contract.”
