Dry conditions should persist this week

BROOKHAVEN — Rain is all but a faint memory and the National Weather Service has no forecasted rain in the near future. Tuesday is forecast to be sunny and warm.
NWS Jackson forecasts 0 chance of rain between Tuesday and Sunday. Temperatures will reach highs in the 80s and lows will hang around 60. Patchy fog is forecast Tuesday morning but should only last until 9 a.m.
Gusty winds could whip up Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. NWS Jackson forecasts the gusts to reach 20 to 25 mph over the next three days.
Tuesday’s high is forecast to reach 89 degrees with a low of 60. Wednesday’s high will be 84 and the low will reach 61. If Tuesday, October 24’s high reaches 89 degrees it would tie the third place record high of 89 degree set in 2003 and 1899. October 24’s record high temperature was 91 degrees set in 1921.
The area is now on eight consecutive dry days. Dry conditions will persist due to a high pressure system according to NWS Jackson. Wildfire conditions and drought conditions will likely not improve anytime soon.
Lincoln County remains under a burn ban until further notice.
