Vehicle struck in Wednesday evening gunfire

BROOKHAVEN — Reports of a discharged firearm and shooting came into the Brookhaven Police Department dispatch around 5:26 p.m. and 5:41 p.m. Wednesday according to call reports. The shots were heard from Union Street and White Oak Drive.
Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins said a vehicle was hit by the gunfire but no one was injured in the shooting at Pinehaven Mobile Park at 1224 Union St.
Collins said it is possible a handgun was used in the shooting but it is hard to say for sure. Shouldered firearms can be chambered in handgun calibers.
No one has been arrested in connection with the crime. The shooting remains under investigation.
