Last day to vote for Loyd Star freshman

LOYD STAR — Hornet freshman Jordyn Kees is competing nationally for distinguished honors and could use your help today.

The young man at Loyd Star has grown into a strong tailback this year. Kees had rushed for 1,404 yards on 198 carries and 21 touchdowns when a list of top 20 players in the nation was made. Sports Illustrated and ScoreBook Live have Kees in their top 20 freshman players in the country and he is up for a national vote.

He saw varsity action as an eighth grader and has continued to improve. As of October 30, Kees rushed for 1,791 yards in the regular season, scored 25 touchdowns on 245 carries. He averages 7.3 yards per carry.

Kees is the only player from Mississippi listed in the top 20. Today is the final day to vote for Kees. He is currently in second place in the voting and trails by 8,544 votes.

Loyd Star finished the regular season 9-1 and undefeated in region play to earn a district championship. The Hornets host Lake Friday night at 7 p.m.
