Rain could come tonight, just in time for any planted seeds

BROOKHAVEN — Rain is a good thing and good things come to those who wait. Southwest Mississippi has gone 210 days without a rain event of an inch or more but the much needed rain could come tonight.

NWS Jackson forecasts a 70 percent chance of rain tonight and into the early morning hours of Friday. Rainfall could be between a tenth to a quarter of an inch of rain between midnight to 4 a.m tonight.

Friday’s best chance of rain will come around noon. There is an 80 percent chance of rain Friday and Friday night. Rainfall Friday will be between a quarter of an inch to a half of an inch according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday’s rain chances are 80 percent and will drop to 70 percent chance of showers.

Alas, good things must come to an end and the chance of rain will drop Sunday. A 40 percent chance of rain is present each day from Sunday to Tuesday night. Rain chances will drop down to 20 percent Wednesday. All rain chances may fluctuate between now and then.

Temperatures will be mild with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the 50s.
