West Lincoln Fishing Team reeling in success

WEST LINCOLN — Fall fishing has been a success for West Lincoln’s B.A.S.S. Fishing team. The bears have reeled in two first place finishes in the first two tournaments of the fall season.

Head Coach Angela Maxwell said they will fish in one more tournament this fall and three tournaments in the spring time. It is the seventh year West Lincoln has had a competitive fishing team. They currently compete in the South Trail with the Mississippi B.A.S.S. High School Nation.

West Lincoln won its first bass tournament on October 14 on the Pearl River at Pearlington. Junior Parker Campbell and freshman Dawson Smith took first place with a catches totaling 10.70 pounds.

This weekend, the Bears won on the Pascagoula River in Moss Point. Junior Gabe Gennaro and eighth grader Luke Gennarro took first place with catches totaling 9.77 pounds. They also won the lunker award for a 2.91 pound bass. It was the first tournament for Luke to fish.

West Lincoln’s final fall tournament will be December 2nd in Gulfport.
