BROOKHAVEN — After exceptional drought the rain this week is much needed as planted food plots, gardens and cow pastures start to germinate. The good news is more rain is in the forecast from the National Weather Service in Jackson.

Saturday will be nice and sunny with temperatures reaching a high of 61. Saturday night will have a 40 percent chance of showers after 1 a.m. with increasing cloud cover and a southeast wind. The low Saturday is 45.

Sunday has a chance of showers from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The chance of rain is 70 percent. It will be cloudy with a high of 60. Wind will be east around 5 mph and shift to the northwest in the afternoon. Lows will reach 38 Sunday night coupled with a 40 percent chance of showers before 7 mph. Wind speeds Sunday night could reach 20 mph gusts.

Sunny weather will return Monday through Wednesday. A 20 percent chance of rain is forecast for Thursday of next week but that is still a long way out.
