BROOKHAVEN — A forecast of rain and naysayers could not dampen the Christmas Spirit in Brookhaven Thursday night. Children screamed with jubilee as they ran around picking up candy tossed by parade riders in downtown Brookhaven.

Occasional drops of rain fell and gusts of wind whipped around a few times but the weather was calm for the most part. It is a good thing the Brookhaven-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce went ahead with the parade.

Ole Brook’s Marching Band provided a great soundtrack to the event.
