AITX expands fleet, acquires SMBC Rail Services

BROOKHAVEN — One of Lincoln County’s biggest industries made business moves today at the national level. American Industrial Transport, AITX, acquired the Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Rail Services in North America.

AITX announced the news in a press release.

The acquisition adds 50,000 railcars in addition to new customers and members to the rail industry team. AITX now leases 120,000 railcars and runs 20 repair and maintenance workshops. One of those workshops is in Brookhaven. AITX celebrated the expansion of the Brookhaven workshop in July.
