Lincoln County should expect frost this week

BROOKHAVEN — After a few days of balmy sunshine, cold weather has returned. National Weather Service in Jackson forecasts cooler temperatures this week mostly due to clear night skies letting warm air escape the earth’s surface.
Tuesday night’s low will drop down to 39 with a partly clear night sky. Wednesday will be mostly sunny warming the temperatures to a high of 61. Gusts of wind could reach 20 mph and have sustained speeds of 5-to-10 mph.
Wednesday night has a good chance of frosty conditions. Frost will be widespread as temperatures drop to a low of 31 degrees and wind out of the northwest blows at sustained winds of 5mph.
Frost will linger until around 8 a.m. Thursday morning. It will be a sunny day but the high will only warm up to 48 degrees. Wind speeds will be 5 to 10 mph out of the northwest with gusts reaching 20 mph.
Widespread frost will return Thursday evening mostly after 1 a.m. on Friday. The low will drop down to 31 degrees again. Frost is forecast to linger until 8 a.m. Friday morning. Temperatures will be 50 degrees with sunny skies. Wind gusts again will be around 20 mph and sustained winds between 5 to 10 mph.
Friday night will cool off to a low of 30 degrees.
