BROOKHAVEN — Severe storms have cut short business hours for one local establishment and a coffee shop is closing early before its doors shut for good.

Sipps, a custom soda shop, announced on Facebook it plans to close early due to inclement weather Monday. The shop will close early at 4 p.m. due to the weather threat. Several employees at Sipps are students.

“We apologize for the inconvenience but we are looking out for our employees. Stay safe,” Sipps wrote in a statement on Facebook.

Sipps will return to normal business hours Tuesday.

Closing for good

The Rabbit Hole Brew and Infusion, a coffee shop on Brookway Boulevard, announced on Facebook it plans to close after a year and a half of business. As a result, business hours will be shortened and the coffee shop will close at 2 p.m.

Owners Candice Strange and Ryan Strange published a statement about closing The Rabbit Hole on Facebook this weekend. The final business day for The Rabbit Hole is dependent on stock of ingredients in the last week of January.

“The last year and a half have been an amazing journey for us and we appreciate the opportunity to serve so many amazing customers the best drinks and ice cream with some super fun themes in the process,” The Rabbit Hole wrote on Facebook. “Unfortunately, all things must come to an end and we are approaching the final chapter of our story here at the Rabbit Hole. So many factors weigh into running a small business and the economy takes its toll on so many.”

Several reasons factored into the decision to close. The statement cites rising costs of ingredients, wages and utilities. The business owners also have a family and wrote about their need to slow down to “spend precious time with our loved ones.”

The Rabbit Hole’s dream was to serve customers quality coffee and educate people about CBD and natural remedies. The next chapter for the Strange family is unknown at this time. Until the store closes, inventory is marked down to 50 percent off starting today.

“Thank you for letting us serve you while having fun and making memories in the process,” The Rabbit Hole wrote. “Even if you are not drinking our coffee never let anyone make you settle for bad coffee.”
