Hard freeze warning will continue into Wednesday

BROOKHAVEN — Ice, sleet and a light dusting of snow greets residents across Lincoln County Tuesday morning. The high today will be 29 degrees with wind chill as low as -1 degrees. Icy conditions will not clear up today.

Tonight’s low is forecast to hit 10 degrees.Wednesday’s high will hit 43 degrees which should clear up any ice on the roads but it will be about 24 hours until that happens. A hard freeze warning is still in effect until tomorrow morning. Please take precaution and care for animals, the elderly and make sure your water is dripping so the pipes do not burst.

Frostbite and hypothermia is likely with possible exposure today. Dangerous cold weather will continue into the rest of the week as lows stay below freezing each night.

Power remains on for much of Lincoln County. Entergy reports just three customers are without power this morning, Southwest Electric reports no one is without power in the county and 67 customers with Magnolia Electric are without power. Southwest does report 100 customers without power in Franklin County.
