Dangerous cold one night, flash flooding the next

BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service in Jackson warns of heavy rainfall next week following dangerous cold temperatures Friday and Saturday night. Flash floods could be possible between next Tuesday and Thursday.
First, cold temperatures will drop to a low of 19 degrees Friday night. Wind chills will be between 5 to 10 degrees Friday and Saturday night with frostbite and hypothermia being possible with prolonged exposure. NWS Jackson advises people to take precautions and to protect water pipes.
Thankfully, there is no rain or precipitation in the forecast so roadways should not be slick with ice like they were this week.
Heavy rainfall is in the forecast for next week. Rain could come Monday night with a 70 percent chance of rain followed by more rain from Tuesday into Thursday. The rain could cause minor river flooding and low lying areas to become inundated by water. Flash flooding could be a threat between Tuesday and Thursday NWS Jackson warns.
