Lincoln County tornado watch continues on Super Bowl Sunday

BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service warns severe storms could move through Lincoln County along with rain this Super Bowl Sunday. A tornado watch is in effect until 1 am Monday for Lincoln County and other Southwest Mississippi counties.
Lincoln County is under an enhanced risk of sever storms which is enhanced from the initial forecast Sunday morning.
According to the NWS Jackson weather statement, the storms will be moving from the west and could get to Lincoln County between 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. The major threats with this storm are hail, wind and possibly tornadoes.
NWS Jackson warns there could be damaging winds could reach speeds up to 70 mph, large hail up to golf ball size and tornadoes are likely and some tornadoes could be strong.
