Funeral services for Mrs. Margenel “Margie” McCaffrey will be held at Cold Springs Church of Christ on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 11:00 AM; a visitation, beginning at 10:00 AM, will precede the service, and graveside services will follow the funeral in the Cold Springs Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Margenel (Margie Nell) Herrington McCaffrey passed away peacefully at her home on February 27, 2024.

Mrs. Margie was born on January 21, 1931 in Brookhaven, MS. She married James Bernard McCaffrey and they were blessed with two children whom she adored, Richard Bernard McCaffrey and Charma Lynn Johnson.

She and her husband, BB, opened and operated BB’s Cleaners where they cared for the Bogue Chitto Community’s clothing needs. After she and BB closed the cleaners, they retired to gardening and taking care of their family. She was known for being an excellent seamstress and cook. Her life was Christ-led and embellished with a large family. She had a personality out of this world matched only by her love for family. She will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Vivian Herrington, father, Sedgie Herrington Sr., husband, James Bernard McCaffrey, and brother Sedgie Herrington

She is survived by her children Richard McCaffrey (Murlie) and Charma Johnson, her brothers John Herrington (Nita), Roger Dale Herrington (Beverly), Morris Ray Herrington (JoAnn), sisters, Doris Faye, and Ann Jones (Clyde). Her grandchildren include Melane Crosby (Steve), Tate McCaffrey, Trinidy Wilson (Jason), Page Nelson (Guy), Dawn Freeman (Andy), Andrew Johnson (Carissa), Misty Allred, and Josh Allred (Michelle). Great-Grandchildren include Laken Van Norman (Kason), Kaylie Boyd (Thomas), Jake, JT, Macie, and Maddi McCaffrey, Marcus and Charlsie Wilson, Britton, Isabelle, and Chloe Nelson, Dylan and Jase Johnson, Sabrina Coleman, Shyannah Smith, Landon and Blake Allred. Great-Great Grandchildren include Rhett and Brant Van Norman, Bo and Eliza Boyd, Endi and Emma McCaffrey, Auldyn Coleman, Xaylan Wallis, Auldra Coleman, Brayson, Cohen, and Hinley Smith. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
