Lincoln County under severe thunderstorm warning

BROOKHAVEN — Birds are singing, squirrels are barking and a light mist has descended on this Tuesday morning. National Weather Service warns the day could get a little ugly with a severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 10 a.m. in Lincoln County. Isolated severe storms are forecast the rest of today.

The current severe thunderstorm warning was issued after radar detected a storm front near Alcorn State in Lorman to Roxie moving east at 60 mph. Franklin, Lincoln and Copiah Counties are at risk. The storm could get to Caseyville and Loyd Star by 9:30  a.m., Brookhaven by 9:35 a.m. and Wesson by 9:40 a.m.

Hail could be up to 1 inch in size and maximum wind gusts will be around 60 mph.
