Dr. Geanell C. Adams has been named Dean of Workforce Education at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, effective Feb. 26, 2024. Bringing a wealth of experience and leadership to the role, Adams will spearhead efforts to strengthen Co-Lin’s workforce development initiatives.

Co-Lin Workforce is committed to fostering a thriving community by empowering individuals and strengthening the business and industry landscape within the community college’s district. Adams will lead this effort through a two-pronged approach.

Individual development — Co-Lin Workforce provides short-term, non-credit training programs designed to equip individuals with skills and certifications needed for in-demand careers in transportation, healthcare, and other vital sectors.

Employer partnerships — Co-Lin Workforce partners with businesses to help offset costs of upskilling or reskilling their workforce through affordable, customized training programs. This not only benefits the businesses, but also contributes to a more skilled and competitive talent pool within the community.

“This targeted approach fosters individual skill development and strengthens employer engagement, ensuring our workforce receives the necessary training and support to thrive in the region,” Adams said. “Through these tailored programs and partnerships, Co-Lin Workforce Education lays the groundwork for a successful local workforce.”

Adams comes to CLCC from the Central Mississippi Planning and Development District, where she served as workforce coordinator. She was responsible for the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program staff development at WIN Job Centers, oversaw the management and development of more than $10 million in sub-award and contract budgets, and was heavily involved in local workforce development.

Adams earned bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degrees from Delta State University, and a Doctor of Education degree from The University of Mississippi. She is a also a graduate of Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy, and Hinds Community College Instructional Leadership Academy.
