BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County Emegerancy Management Agency Director Chris Reid said the safe room is now open. A tornado watch is in effect tonight for the area until 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Lincoln County’s safe room is located at 1154 Beltline Drive Brookhaven. Brookhaven-Lincoln County Emergency Management Agency announced the shelter was open until severe weather passes through the area.

“You will need to bring any items you may need with you to include food, water, medications, etc. No pets will be allowed,” the agency stated in a press release.

Lincoln County is additionally under a wind advisory until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Flash flooding, strong winds, tornadoes and hail are all weather risks associated with the incoming storms.
