BROOKHAVEN — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Lincoln County, Jefferson County, Franklin County and Copiah County Monday night. National Weather Service in Jackson issued the warning.

A severe thunderstorm with 60 mph wind gusts was located over New Hope just north of Meadville moving east. The storm threat is radar indicated and could damage to roofs, siding and trees.

NWS Jackson advises to “For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.”

The storm also contains hail less than .75 inches in size.

The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 10:45 p.m. Lincoln County is under a wind advisory and tornado watch until 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. Tuesday.
