The 50 Plus Club met on March 21 in the Anderson Building at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. In April Ms. Rials will become a mom for the first time and members of the 50 Plus Club surprised her with gifts for the new baby. This was a joyous time for Abby and a way for members of the club to show our appreciation to her.
The club started their meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem and remembering those with birthdays and anniversaries.
Since the Lord is blessing Abby and her husband with the privilege of becoming parents, Linda Johnson brought our devotion on what the Lord had to say about babies and young children. The Bible teaches us to nurture and train a child. Here are just a few of what the Bible has to say.
• Psalm 139 — You are a Child of God. You are wonderfully made, dearly loved and precious in His sight.
• Jeremiah l:5 — Before I formed you in the womb I knew you. Before you were born I set you apart.
• John 16:21 — A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.
• Luke 18:15 — Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
• Proverbs 22:6 — Train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.
The group then enjoyed playing a game of trivia. Remember, members of this club are all seniors and it was quite a challenge to remember events that happened several years ago. Fun was had by everyone.
Guests were Rachel McCardle, Glenda Anderson Morgan, Lynda Campbell, Linda Cumberland, and Hugh and Gayle King.
Our next meeting will be September 17.
