BROOKHAVEN — Entergy, Southwest Electric and Magnolia Electric all report full service of power to Lincoln County customers. Entergy reports just 5 customers in Copiah County are without power and Southwest reports one customer in Claiborne County is without power as storms start to roll through southwest Mississippi.
Severe storms are set to continue to move through the area. According to the National Weather Service, storms will move through the area until 7 p.m. with damaging wind gusts and hail the biggest concerns. Our sister paper The Natchez Democrat reported a hail storm moved through the Miss-Lou today.
Damaging wind gusts are forecast to continue today. NWS Jackson warns the gusts could reach 30 to 40 mph in parts of northwestern Lincoln County. Winds may cause weak trees to break and fall while high profile vehicles may become unsteady in the winds.
Strong winds are also possible Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sustained wind speeds will be between 20 to 25 mph. Wind gusts will reach 30 to 40 mph. Again strong winds could caused weakened or dead trees to fall.
