Series of storms rolling into town

BROOKHAVEN — April brings showers, May flowers and according to the forecast severe storms this week. Storms could roll in Monday and linger until Wednesday when the greatest threat to our area is predicted.

National Weather Service in Jackson warns of severe storms the next three days. Mondays storms could produce isolated severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts, hail and possibly a brief tornado. The threat for Lincoln County is between 2 pm to 11 pm today.

Tuesday afternoon is when more storms could roll through. The weather forecast calls for isolated severe storms with damaging wind gusts and hail up to a quarter in size. Tornadoes can not be ruled out. The timing of the threat is from the afternoon into the evening.

Lincoln County is under an enhanced risk Wednesday of severe storms. Severe storms are likely and damaging wind gusts could reach 70 mph. Hail can be as large as golfball size and tornadoes are likely. The timing of this threat will be late Wednesday morning into the evening.

Substantial rainfall forecasted this week could cause flash flooding in low lying areas. Minor to moderate river flooding is possible.
