Tornado watch cancelled for Lincoln County, power knocked out

BROOKHAVEN — Rain continues to drum on the roofs of businesses in downtown Brookhaven. Trees are dancing in the wind but the severe thunderstorm warning has passed and a tornado watch is cancelled for Lincoln County. Power has been knocked out to some residents
National Weather Service in Jackson forecasts rain to continue into the afternoon. Severe storms could continue to produce hail, damaging winds and the threat of a tornado. We will provide updates as the storm front rolls through Lincoln County.
Entergy reports 98 customers in Lincoln County are out of power. Local Customer Service Representative Fisher Warren said the area had 1,960 customers without power at 10 a.m. Brookhaven had six customers without power, Hazlehurst had 1, McComb had 1,842, Prentiss had 19 and Tylertown had 92 customers without power.
“Additional weather may increase these numbers today,” Warren said. “The crews are in the field reviewing damages made and making repoairs for each of these locations.”
Southwest Electric reported 190 customers in Lincoln County are without power as of 10:30. Magnolia Electric reports 1,900 customers in Lincoln County are without power. Pike County has 4,300 Magnolia Electric customers without power at this time.
Lincoln County remains under a flood watch until 7 p.m.
