Loyd Star has a Hornet still playing in state tournament

OXFORD — A Loyd Star Hornet advanced to the final day at the MHSAA Class I Individual State Tournament. Ady Locke is a junior at Loyd Star. 

She cruised through round 1 and 2 of the girls singles division in the tournament. Locke won both rounds in straight sets Tuesday. Round one was won 6-0, 6-0 over Clarksdale’s Briley Whitaker. 

In the quarterfinal round, she defeated Resurrection’s Abby Panter 6-1, 6-0.

Locke will play St. Andrews in the semifinals this morning at 8:45 a.m. 

Last year, Locke played mixed doubles and moved to singles this year. Loyd Star should be proud of their Hornet as she continues to play Wednesday.
