BROOKHAVEN — Officers with the Brookhaven Police Department are working a crime scene Tuesday morning.

Several officers are on Fred Walley Drive as residents stand outside of their Oakview apartments. A man from the Mississippi Department of Corrections was also present. The scene is close to Union Street and Ingram Street and Mamie Martin Elementary School. One onlooker stated there was a shooting

A man wearing a tan shirt, pants and a black bucket hat walked down the street and sang with a soulful voice “I’m going to keep on praying. I got to pray. Pray everyday, oh Lord.”

Yellow placards were placed down on the street next to pieces of evidence as a detective walked around taking pictures with a camera. A sign on the exterior of the Oakview apartment building stated it was Apartment No. 2 in the complex.

We are currently working to gather details from Brookhaven Police Chief Kenny Collins about the incident.

This is a developing story.
