WEST LINCOLN — Lincoln County Engineer Ryan Holmes gave an update to District 4 Supervisor Eli Ferguson on a project to replace a bridge on Auburn Drive. The Bridge is being replaced with Emergency Road and Bridge Repair funds.

Holmes gave updates on bridge projects for Opelousas and Bethel roads. He works for Dungan Engineering.

Crews are working on replacing the Auburn Drive bridge between Gum Grove and Randolph roads in district 4. Holmes said they surveyed Friday and are laying out the pylons. They will drive test the pilings once they get on site.

“If our supplier has the pilings in stock it will move fast, if not it will be 10 days of not being able to do anything,” Holmes said. “The concrete pilings have to cure before the hauling and driving. Hopefully those will be in stock.”

Bids to replace the bridge on Opelousas will open on May 17. Holmes said the bids will be taken under advisement until the next board of supervisors meeting.

A project to replace a bridge on Bethel Road is making progress as the County works to obtain a right of way. Holmes said the right of way has been sent out to the landowner. The property has a real estate agent who manages it. Holmes told the board he hopes to hear from them soon.
