Saturday is final day for 2024 Spring Cleanup in Lincoln County

Saturday, May 11, is the fifth and final day of the 2024 “Keep Lincoln County Beautiful” Spring Cleanup days.

Though in previous years, the campaign was conducted with a drop-off location in each of the county’s five districts, supervisors moved the collection to a centralized location in 2020 and have stuck with that model, saying they can have better control of the situation and what items are being disposed of during the event.

The Cleanup Saturday is 8 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the City of Brookhaven Transfer Station, 463 County Farm Lane NE.

No scavenging will be allowed at the dump and people are directed to stay in their vehicles. Each load will be inspected by the county to ensure there are no items which are unable to be disposed of at the dump. Residents are asked to separate items by type as best they can and the event is for Lincoln County residents only.

Acceptable items for disposal include: scrap metal; electronics; mattresses; furniture; carpets and rugs; porcelain, toilets and sinks; and white goods, washers and dryers.

Unacceptable items include: tires, paints, oil, fuels, chemicals, fluorescent lightbulbs, commercial rubbish, vegetative debris, construction materials, oilfield pipes, pressurized containers, metal drums, or any hazardous waste.
