A graveside service to celebrate the life of Nita Faye Lusk will be held, 2 pm, at Beauregard Cemetery, Wesson, MS, on Thursday, May 16, 2024. The service is being arranged by Stringer Funeral Home (Hazlehurst). Bro. Allen Jenkins will be officiating the service.
Nita Faye Lusk, 74, of Beauregard, passed away on May 13, 2024, at KDMC surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 10, 1949, in Brookhaven, MS, to Everett Jackson (stepfather) and Ruth Richardson Jackson.
As a dedicated and compassionate nurse, Nita spent many years caring for others in hospitals and home health settings and as a travel nurse. Her steadfast dedication to nursing touched countless lives and left a lasting impression on those she cared for. Nita instilled a strong work ethic in her children and grandchildren, leading by example with her compassion and dedication to others.
Beloved wife, mother, Grammy, sister, and aunt, Nita’s love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was immensely proud of each family member, cherishing every moment spent with them. Nita shared many years of travel with her mother, sisters, children, grandchildren, nieces, and friends, creating treasured memories in the mountains, on cruises, and during other exciting adventures. Her journeys were a testament to her love for exploration and the joy she found in shared experiences. She also kept in close contact with many special friends, whom she valued dearly, always nurturing these relationships with love and care.
Nita was a member of Brookway Church of Christ, where she was baptized into Christ by her son-in-law many years ago. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing her with strength and comfort. Nita’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and dedication. She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply. Her memory will forever be cherished by those who were blessed to know her.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her daughter, Pam Hodges; her sisters, Geraldine McFall and Emma Jean Smith; and brothers, Leon Buitt, Pearlie Buitt, Marvin Buitt, Charles Buitt, and Dave Buitt; stepsisters, Betty Carroll, Rachel Rippy, and Mary Jane Furr; stepbrothers, Robert Jackson, Earl K. Jackson, Edgar Jackson, Edward Jackson, and Henry Jackson.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 20 years, Don Lusk; daughters, Jennifer Reeves (Wayne) and Amy Case (Jason); stepdaughters, Donna Holcomb (Casey) and Kayleen Roberts (Matthew); stepson, Wade Lusk (Kim); grandchildren, Chasity Rivera (Max), Lyndsey Clark, (Dustin), Jaycee Case, Brydon & Jase Holcomb, Dayton Jarman, Ember & Layden Pickering, Nathan & Alex Roberts, Sean Lusk, Payton Lusk (Laney); great-grandchildren, Lani & Jamison Kai Rivera, Everett Clark & Waylon Lusk; brothers, Robert Buitt and Sylvester Buitt; sisters, Ann Caves and Martha “Mott” Sanford; stepsister, Dorothy Wilkinson; stepbrother, Clifton Jackson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Berean Children’s Home, Bogue Chitto, MS, honoring Nita’s commitment to helping others.
