Surveyors work on flooding issue near Lake Lincoln

HEUCKS RETREAT — Surveyors visited the area of Lake Lincoln and Lake Lincoln Road to address a flooding issue this month. Lincoln County Engineer Ryan Holmes gave an update to the Board of Supervisors Monday morning.

A landowner had complained the lake at Lake Lincoln State Park was responsible for flooding of a creek on their property and a bridge crossing on Lake Lincoln Road. At a February meeting, Holmes said the lake’s levels had not risen since 2017.

Holmes said in March that surveyors would need to conduct a lidar survey and boundary survey to figure out the property corners at the lake. Surveys were needed before they could start an evaluation and go to the state with remedies for the situation.

“I took Sen. Jason Barrett out there last week,” Holmes said. “You could see sign that survey crews had been out there. Surveyors had to wear hip waders down in the woods after all the rain we had.”

Holmes reminded supervisors to keep the shoulders of roadways cut down to keep water off of the road.

He added they had received bids for a bridge replacement on Opelousas Lane NW, which connects California Road to Zetus Road. Supervisors took the bids under advisement so Holmes could do the due diligence.
