Power nearly restored, heat returns

BROOKHAVEN — Temperatures could get up to a high of 91 degrees today with sunshine. Fortunately, low humidity is in the forecast according to the National Weather Service.

Power is nearly fully restored to Southwest Mississippi following storms and tornadoes this week. Entergy reports 181 cusotmers in Pike County are without power which is an improvement from the thousands left without power. Amite County is at 83 customers without power and an improvement from figures Thursday. Lincoln County has 57 customers without power, some of those customers lost power this morning as a line fell on Antioch Lane NW near US84.

Magnolia Electric reports 85 customers in Pike County are without power, the number was around 3,900 Tuesday night. Amite County has 29 customers without power and improvement from the 3,400 customers without power Tuesday night.

Southwest Electric reports one customer without power in several counties including Lincoln County. Jefferson County has 41 customers without power at this time.

If you are looking for a way to cool off Brookhaven Parks and Recreation offers three splash pads for the public to cool off and for children to have some fun.

One splash pad is found at the City Park located on 365 Hartman Street. Bi-Centennial Park offers a splash pad at 202 Main Street and Bethel Park on Fulton Street has a splash pad.

Splash Pads are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. everyday including the weekends until September 30.
