BROOKHAVEN — Forecasts from the National Weather Service in Jackson warn thunderstorms are likely this afternoon. There is a 70 percent chance of rain for Lincoln County after 1 p.m with a tenth to a quarter inch of rain expected.

Winds will be around 10 mph with gusts reaching 20 mph out of the southeast. Temperatures will be at a high of 83 degrees  and a low of 71. Thunderstorms could continue tonight before 10 p.m. At this time, there are no severe thunderstorm watches, warnings or advisories.

Tuesday and Wednesday have small chances of rain before warm temperatures return Thursday and Friday. Small chances of rain come back  Saturday and Sunday with 20 percent and 30 percent chances respectively.

Current long range forecasts call for both above average temperatures and above average precipitation for southwest Mississippi.
