Lady Cats knock off Stringer

STRINGER – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats are on a roll after knocking off the Stringer Lady Red Devils 15-7 Thursday night to increase their winning streak to three games in slowpitch softball action.

“This was a big win tonight,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “Both teams hit the ball hard. We did a great job taking advantage of the situations by staying patience at the plate and hit the ball.”

The Lady Cats (9-6, 2-0) will be in action Saturday as they participate in Ole Brook’s softball tournament. BC plays Florence at 10:20 a.m., Brookhaven at 1 p.m. and Wesson at 2:20 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 15, Stringer 7 

The Lady Cats came strong and took control of the contest as they grab a 10-2 advantage in five innings of action.

Both teams battled back and forth throughout the rest of the contest as the Lady Red Devils and Lady Cats scored five runs each.

Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for BC with two strikeouts and three walks.

Abby Sawyer took the loss for Stringer with three strikeouts and 10 walks.

Christian powered the Lady Cats’ offense with a home run and two singles. Colby Kirkland contributed a home run. Mallory Allen provided a triple and two singles. Reagan Kirkland ripped a double and a single. Zariah Matthews and Alana Nettles hit a pair of singles. Cherie Savoie had a double and Myers singled.

Katelyn Green was the top hitter at the plate for the Lady Devils with a double and two singles. Michaela Gambrell provided a triple and a single. Madison Scoggin contributed a double and a single. Jami Parker and Kendalen Russell hit two singles each. Ashley Parker had a double.

In JV action,  Bogue Chitto defeated Stringer 8-1.

Stevie Montgomery tossed the win for the Lady Cats.

Payton Barron directed the Lady Cats at the plate with two singles. Lineka Newson had a double. Destiny Wallace, Kinley Douglas and Montgomery hit safely.
