Funeral Services for Arcola Walker Taylor are 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. Stringer Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Home and continues on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, from 10 until 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Crystal Springs.

Mrs. Taylor, 94, died Nov. 10, 2014. She was born on Feb. 11, 1920, in Lincoln County to Isaac “Ike” Walker and Katie Jane Chandler Walker.

She was the widow of Kimble Taylor to whom she was married for 55 years. She graduated from CSCS in 1940. Arcola completed cosmetology at Fritz-Marinella in Jackson. She took many professional classes in cosmetology and color at University of Southern Mississippi where she earned many awards. She was the owner and master stylist of Arcola’s Beauty Centre in Jackson for 40 years. As a member of First Baptist Church for over 68 years, she served as a Sunday school teacher for 32 years.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her four brothers, Walter, Oliver, Roy and Burt Walker; and three sisters, Leona Smith, Beatrice Smith and Lavada Jones.

Survivors are her one sister, Nell Harrell of Brookhaven; four daughters, Phyllis Karan Taylor of Crystal Springs, Lynda Kay Wilson and husband, Gene, of Longview, Texas, and Aberdeen, Scotland, Marynne Hildreth and husband, Bill, of San Antonio, Texas, and Katie Jane Lynch and husband, Ronnie, of Florence; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to the staff of St. Dominic’s ICU and palliative care and Dr. Michael Morgan. We wish to also thank the staff of both First Baptist Church Crystal Springs and Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the youth ministry of First Baptist Church, Crystal Springs.
