The Brookhaven Panther and the Warren Central Lady Vikings were victorious Tuesday night in non-divisional basketball action at Sinclair Gymnasium.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Vikings defeated the Lady Panthers 47-36.

In the boys’ game, the Panthers feasted on the Vikings to extend their winning streak to seven games with a 75-42 victory.

Brookhaven returns to Region 6-5A action Friday, as they travel to Jackson to take on the Wingfield Falcons. The varsity girls’ game begins at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Warren Central 47, Brookhaven 36 

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers came out and quickly set the tone of the game with a 15-6 run in the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the Lady Vikings battled back and outscored the Lady Panthers 12-6, as Ole Brook took a 21-18 lead into halftime.

In the third period of action, Warren Central continued their offensive aggression with a 14-9 run to take the lead at 32-30.

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Vikings outscored the Lady Panthers 15-6 to claim the victory.

Kynitria Hills was the offensive leader for the Lady Panthers with 20 points. Asia Byrd contributed six points. Yasmine Hill provided five points.

T’Onna Sims powered the Lady Vikings attack with 18 points. Denita Bracey chipped in with 13 points. Amber Gaston added eight points.

Brookhaven 75, Warren Central 42 

The Panthers’ high octane offense and defense was too much for the Vikings to handle as Ole Brook came out and quickly destroyed Warren Central in the first quarter to take a 25-9 lead.

In the second quarter, Brookhaven’s offensive fireworks continued as the Panthers clobbered the Vikings 21-8 run to take a commanding 46-17 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Brookhaven outscored Warren Central 29-25 to secure the win.

Damarius Brooks directed the Panthers’ offensive onslaught with 17 points. Shon Blackwell pumped in 14 points, three assists and two steals. Tavis Moore provided 11 points. Darrian Wilson was the leader on the boards with eight rebounds and scored eight points.
