MERIDIAN – The Co-Lin Lady Wolves managed to overcome a slow start to remain undefeated on the season after knocking off the Meridian Lady Eagles 82-64 in South Division JUCO action Thursday night at Meridian.

In the mens’ contest, the Co-Lin Wolves suffered heartbreaking 67-65 loss in the closing second to the Meridian Eagles.

Co-Lin will resumes action Monday as they travel to Perkinston to face the Gulf Coast Bulldogs for more South Division action. The women’s game tips off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the mens’ contest at 7:30 p.m.

Co-Lin 82, Meridian 64 

The Lady Wolves experience something very strange for the first time as they struggle to get things going offensively in the first half and trailed at halftime 37-33 to the Meridian Lady Eagles.

In the second half, Co-Lin managed to make the adjustments necessary to rally back and take their first lead of the contest after trailing the Lady Eagles for more than 25 minutes plus.

The Lady Wolves (15-0, 6-0) outscored the Lady Eagles 49-27 in the second half to win 82-64 and remain undefeated on the season.

Co-Lin had five players to score in double figures as Claresa Banks led the charge with 16 points. Alexis Collins contributed 13 points. Kelley Allen pumped in 12 points. Arnissayur Robinson and Caroline Lumpkin added 11 points apiece. Toni Woods was the leader on the boards with nine rebounds and scored six points.

Londyn Thomas was the top scorer for the Lady Eagles with 19 points. Miaya Crowder had a double-double performance of 15 points and 11 rebounds. Tytiana Hall chipped in with 15 points.

Meridian 67, Co-Lin 65 

In the mens’ contest, the Wolves and the Eagles battled back-and-forth in a close game as Meridian took a 36-33 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the Wolves (3-12, 1-5) fought back into the contest and outscored the Eagles 32-31 but failed to clinched the win after missing a three-points at the buzzer.

Jordan Lumpkins directed the Wolves offense with 14 points. Terry Morris pumped in 13 points. Donte Watson contributed a double-double performance of 12 points and 12 rebounds. Josh Washington also scored 12 points.

Brandon Daniels powered the Eagles on offense with 19 points. Ken’Darrius Hamilton chipped in with a double-double effort of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Devontae Brewster provided 13 points.
