Funeral Services for Benford Lavon “B.L.” Ashmore of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Roberts Cemetery in Osyka at 1:30 p.m. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home and again Thursday morning until time of service.

Mr. Ashmore, 76, died Feb. 15, 2015, at his residence. He was born on April 14, 1938, in Carroll County to Benford Forrest Ashmore and Ermine Irene Irwin Ashmore.

He was a member of Easthaven Baptist Church. He retired from Southern Farm Bureau Casualty Company in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he worked in office management and as personal director. He was also a member of the Honor Guard in the U.S. Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Carolyn Martin Ashmore; his son, Ronald Ashmore; brothers, Talmadge Ashmore and James Ashmore; and sister, Bernice Boling.

Survivors are his son, Richard Ashmore of Baton Rouge; brother, Wayne Ashmore and wife, Diane, of Brookhaven; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
