Harold Smith, 86, of Brookhaven, MS, went to Heaven on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Dominic’s Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS, and he is now singing in the “Big Choir”. Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 5 until 8 p.m. and will continue at Brookhaven Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. The graveside service will follow in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.  Bro. Garland Boyd will be officiating the services.  Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Smith was born Nov. 19, 1928 in Lincoln County, MS to Charlie Steve and Ollie Mae Watts Smith. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a retired garment cutter from Stahl Urban & Auburn Sports Wear Garment Factory. He was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was an active member of the choir. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Steve and Ollie Mae Watts Smith; brothers, Earnest Smith, Willie Smith, Jesse Smith and John Smith; sisters, Lou Mae Smith Williamson, Wisie Lee Smith and Ruby Smith Carlisle.

Survivors are his wife (the love of his life) of 55 years, Frances Foster Smith; daughters, Beatrice Smith Teasley of Brookhaven, MS, and Martha Elizabeth Smith Gatlin of Lafayette, LA; sons, Harold Steve Smith and wife Wendy of Brookhaven, MS, and David Lee Smith and wife Donna of Brookhaven, MS; grandchildren, Joe Farr, Matt Farr, Tim Farr, Bethany Alexander, Stephanie Smith Davis, Steven Smith, James Mullen, Jessica Smith, Elena Smith, Austin Gatlin, Destiny Gatlin, Cory Gatlin, Jonathan Gatlin and Joshua Gatlin; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
