Greeting readers,

John 3: 16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son; that whosoever believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.” I pray that all mothers had a wonderful and a blessed day on last Sunday. May God continue to be with each of you.

Damascus M.B. Church Mission Group will have their Annual Women’s Day program today at 1:30 p.m. The guest speakers for this wonderful occasion will be Sis. Ann Brumfield of Macedonia M. B. Church in Brookhaven and her daughter Amber Smith of Middle Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee. This will be a mother and daughter team speaking, and each of you are encouraged to come and hear these two dynamite speakers talk about love, women and the Lord.

Eva Harris and Lincoln County Schools’ Alumni will meet May 26 at 6 p.m. in the public library. Everyone is encouraged to be present.

The Eva H. Harris and Lincoln County Schools’ Alumni Reunion is right at hand and the committee are continuing to work to make their planning become a reality. This big event will be July 10-12 in Brookhaven. Starting with the legacy program on Friday morning at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center. There will be alumni honored, and one of the criteria for this honor will be for their abilities to help others. The opening gala/talent show, fish fry and dance will be Friday night at 7 at the Civic Center. If you have not paid your fees please see a committee member in your area.

This year the alumni will focus on their past and present presidents as the grand marshals for the 2015 parade. Mr. Robert L. Barnes served from September 1993 to October 1995. He was instrumental in helping a newly formed committee to prepare for the 1994 School Reunion.

Mrs. Cora Bracey Edwards was the second alumni president who served from October 1995 to October 2008. She was instrumental in helping the committee members to prepare for five reunions.

The third and the resigning president is Mr. Curtis Tyner who has served from October 2008 to present — May 2015. He has been instrumental in helping the committee members plan several reunions along with the upcoming tenth reunion that is very special to the group.

There will be more about the parade and the grand marshals in future articles.
