Funeral services for Rev. Robert S. Magee will be Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015,  at 2 p.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Bendon Ginn and Dr. Mike Lips will be officiating the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015, at New Hope United Methodist from 12 p.m. until the time of services.

Bro. Magee, 91, of Caseyville, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at his residence. He was born in Simpson County on Dec. 27, 1923, to William Leslie Magee Sr. and Emma Brown Magee.

He graduated from Clem High School, Hinds Junior College and Mississippi College in Clinton. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was ordained to the ministry on April 10, 1960. During Rev. Magee’s ministry he served as pastor to Mt. Morgan Baptist Church, Gatesville Baptist Church and Philadelphia Baptist Church. Upon his retirement he attended New Hope United Methodist Church near his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willis Magee and James Truitt Magee; and sisters, Eva Ellzy Winningham and Evelyn Magee Smith.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 68 years, Lydia Geoghegan Magee, of Caseyville; two brothers, William Leslie Magee Jr. and wife, Joyce and Marshall Magee and wife, Carolyn, both of Mendenhall; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Carol Thompson, LNP Provider, and John Arnold with V.A. Home Base Primary Care; the nurses at Deaconess Home Health Care, Hospice Ministries and Rachel Barnes, primary caregiver every day to the end.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be given to New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 2216 Highway 550 NW, Wesson, MS 39191.
