Man charged in convenience store robbery

A 20-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in the armed robbery of a convenience store at 718 W. Congress St.

The robbery was reported to police at 10:51 a.m.

Police Chief Bobby Bell said a suspect wearing a black hoodie and black pants was spotted running toward Porter’s Body Shop. The suspect, Joshua Butler, 20, was arrested at Exchange Club Park shortly afterward.

Police reported that Butler had a knife in his possession. He was charged with armed robbery, a felony with a three-year minimum sentence.
