NATCHEZ (AP) — A man has been arrested after authorities say they rescued 14 dogs from an alleged dogfighting ring.

The Natchez Democrat reports Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten says authorities arrested 36-year-old Charoyd Henrence Bell on Thursday and charged him with cruelty to animals. Authorities say they were responding to an anonymous tip of dogfighting at the residence. Once there, authorities followed distressed yelps to a nearby bayou, where Bell and another man were located.

The other man has not been charged.
