Funeral services for Charles Buitt, of Crystal Springs, will be Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst. Burial will be at Harmony Cemetery.

Visitation was Monday, May 29, 2017, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Buitt, 66, died May 27, 2017, at his residence. He served as a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps 1969-1972. After returning home from service overseas, he went to work for AT&T, where he stayed for 39.5 years until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Foundation and the American Legion.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and even splitting firewood. He loved taking long vacations and road trips throughout the United States.

He enjoyed helping out his friends and family whenever the need arose. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, whether it involved outdoor activities or long talks about anything and everything, or just nothing.g

He is surved by his wife, Donna Buitt; son, Sean Buitt of Madison; daughters, Teresa Purifoy of Pearl and April Walker of Crystal Springs; brothers, Sylvester Buitt and Robert Buitt of Bogue Chitto; sisters, Ann Caves of Bogue Chitto, Nita Lusk of Wesson, Emma Jean Smith of Hazlehurst and Martha Sanford of Jena, Louisiana; step sister, Dorothy Moore; step brothers, Edward Jackson and Clifton Jackson; and grandchildren, Chance Purifoy, Nick Purifoy, Bennett Buitt, Shelby Buitt, Layton Buitt, Alex Walker and Casey Walker.
