Funeral services for George Ray Gardner, of Brookhaven, will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) at 11 a.m. with burial in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Bogue Chitto. Rev. Stephen R. Gardner will officiate.

Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mr. Gardner, 90, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Tulsa. He was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Bogue Chitto, to Vernon Gardner and Lois Watson Gardner. He was a talented and avid golfer and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and sister, Cindy Stringer.

Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Peggy Jean Hart Gardner; daughters, Victoria G. Wall, Amelia G. Spolec and Stacy J. Vogt; brother, Robert Gardner; grandchildren, Glenn Vogt, Luke Vogt, Georgia Spolec, Amanda Spolec and Clint Vogt; great-grandchildren, Justin Hurston and Penelope Muhalhal; and a host of family and friends.
