Funeral services for Shirley Thornhill Parker, of Summit, were held Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Moaks Creek Baptist Church with burial at the church cemetery. Rev. Mike Alexander and Rev. Jess Greer officiated the service. Hartman-Jones Funeral Home in McComb was in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation was held Monday, Sept. 18, 2017, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mrs. Parker, 82, died, Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, at her residence. She was born April 25, 1935, in Lincoln County, to Hurby Thornhill and Iva Mae Brown Thornhill.  She was a graduate of Johnston Station High School and Southwest Mississippi Community College.  She later graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. She loved living in the Moaks Creek community and on most days could be seen waving at people who passed by her home.  She was a longtime member of Moaks Creek Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Syble T. Jones; brothers-in-law, Clifford Jones and Eugene “Pete” Price; and niece; Janice Jones Duval.

Survivors are her husband of 47 years, Byron “Sonny” Parker, of Summit; son, Burney Parker, of Summit; sister, Carolyn Price, of Madison; nephews, Barry and Brian Price and Ronnie Duval; niece; Brenda Belaga-Price; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jason Jones, Brian Price, Bobby Gates, Max Price, Burney Parker and Marshall Belaga-Price.
