We beg you to give, to help a good cause

We are not too proud to beg, especially when it is for such a good cause. The Holiday Food Pantry Drive wraps up Friday, and right now donations are not what we had hoped for. So we are begging you to give.

We are grateful to the generous donors who have committed to helping the five food pantry ministries in Lincoln County — Greater Hope Foundation, St. Francis Assisi/St. Vincent DePaul, Union Hall Baptist Church, St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and Bethel AME Church. But we need more donors.

These groups help people right here in Lincoln County, and 100 percent of the donations goes directly to feeding the less-fortunate. You don’t have to worry about your contribution going to administrative costs, employee pay or any other expense. It simply provides food for those who need it most.

Food insecurity is a problem in Lincoln County, just like everywhere. Some who visit the food ministries have simply hit a rough patch after losing a job. Some are regulars who can’t work and depend on the kindness of others. Regardless of their circumstances, everyone deserves a meal. This drive helps make that possible.

Below is a list of those who have donated so far. Please consider adding your name to the list.
