Bank robbery suspect wounded by police after car chase

GREENVILLE (AP) — Police say a man suspected of robbing a Mississippi bank was wounded after shooting at law enforcement officers who chased his car.

Mississippi Bureau of Investigation spokesman Warren Strain told the Clarion Ledger that the man opened fire on police after a car chase that ended in Tunica County on Wednesday.

The Delta Democrat-Times reported the man was taken to a Memphis hospital after the shooting. His condition wasn’t immediately released.

No officers were injured.

The wounded man is suspected of robbing a Southern Bancorp branch in Greenville at gunpoint before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of money.
