NATCHEZ — A Natchez teenager died Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash, officials said.

Adams County Coroner James Lee said he pronounced Tamia Conrad, 19, dead at approximately 8:45 a.m. after two SUVs crashed on U.S. 61 near Col. John Pitchford Parkway.

Lee said he could give no further details on the crash, except that he believed Conrad had died of blunt force trauma at the scene.

“This was a very sad case,” Lee said. “I talked to the young lady’s father, who was very distraught.”

Lee said the Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the fatality. No officers from MHP were available for comment Thursday evening.

Conrad’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.

With Memorial Day weekend coming up, Lee asked that everyone drive safely and be wary on the road.

“This was just a tragedy,” Lee said. “We don’t want to see this.”
