Funeral Services for Jerry Bennett Smith of Brookhaven, are Thursday, June 21, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with burial at Little Bahala Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20, 2018, from 5 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith, 80, died peacefully in his sleep Saturday, June 16, 2018, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Wesson, March 25, 1938, to Jimmie Lee and Tiny Belle Parnell Smith.

Jerry was a graduate of Heucks Retreat. He was an entrepreneur and self-made businessman who traveled the world in the oil business before launching several successful businesses over the course of his life. He had a talent for reinventing himself, succeeding in various industries. His latest venture, Mobile Diesel Service in Brookhaven, is now in the capable hands of daughters Katie and Lauren.

Jerry loved spending time with family, watching his grandchildren play ball, traveling the country, and enjoying live gospel music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Lee and Tiny Belle Parnell Smith of Wesson and brothers, Charles (Buddy), Kenneth and Cullen.

Survivors are his six children, Sherry Smith Gray and husband Douglas of Orlando, Florida, Travis Shayne Smith and wife Tammy of Brookhaven, Landon George Smith and wife Bonnie of Greencastle, Indiana, Jerry Kevin Smith of Old Town, Florida, Lauren Smith Jones and husband Austin of Brookhaven, and Katherine
“Katie” Smith Windham and husband Ryan of Brookhaven; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred E. Smith and wife Flora of Wesson, and longtime companion Barbara Morgan, and her children and grandchildren whom he regarded as family.
