Memorial services for Cynthia Camille Runnels Schobey, of Wesson, are Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at 3 p.m. at Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.

Visitation will be Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Ms. Schobey, 67, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland after a brave battle with melanoma. She was born Oct. 11, 1950, in Jackson to Willie Gaston and Charlotte Runnels. She was a graduate of Wingfield High School, Mississippi College, and William Carey University. In her 28 years of teaching, she lovingly taught over a thousand children at various schools.  Most of her career was spent at Wesson Attendance Center where her passion was teaching kindergarten.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she was active in the choir and enjoyed singing in Carols by Candlelight. Her other interests included sewing and cooking with her greatest passion being spoiling her grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents.

Survivors are her children, Matthew (Ashley) Dugas and Allison Pates; brothers, Mike (Rita) Runnels and Chris (Cathy) Runnels; and grandchildren, Natalie Bonds, Coleman Bonds, Kelly Camille Pates and Matilda Dugas.

Memorial donations can be made in Cindy’s name to Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland or Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson.

Her family would like to thank all of those who prayed, visited, and sent cards of encouragement to their mother as she battled.
