The Amite County Trojans ran past the West Lincoln Bears 44-14 in Liberty on Friday night.

The Trojans led 24-6 at halftime and West Lincoln head coach BJ Smithhart said his team could never get a handle on the Trojan attack. The win was the 20th consecutive win for Amite County over a school from Lincoln County.

“They had some really nice speed in their skill positions and we struggled when they got into the second level of our defense,” said Smithhart. “On film we’d seen them playing some larger schools and the thing that jumped out tonight was how much faster they were than they looked on film.”

The Bears are now 0-1 in division play and will host Enterprise next week. Smithhart says his team has some work to do this week to get ready for their county rivals.

“We’ve got to find the right answers in a short period of time,” said Smithhart.
